NOTES

Play On BACH
Moreno Gistain Piano Duo
Music for piano solo and two pianos

Play on BACH is the new project of Moreno Gistaín Piano Duo.
In the German music notation the notes are named with the first letters of the alphabeth. The name of one of the most influential musicians of all times becomes a melody of four sounds. (B.A.C.H. relates to the notes B flat, A, C and B).
Johann Sebastian Bach himself used this little melody in many of his works. This little musical molecule is so-called "Bach Motif" and it has been used as an inspiration by many great composers of different ages, countries and aesthetics. The title of the program suggests two meanings, one is to make music with the name of Bach and the other to toy with this four notes.
Some composers pay tribute to the great Bach by using this motive and other composers felt fascinated for the challenge of create music upon this melody.
"Play on BACH" shows a surprising and creative selection of music composed "with the name of Bach".  This program presents an alternance of works for piano solo and for two pianos from the great romantic music to modern Radiohead, including film music, hommages to Jazz, tributes to the golden age of piano music and pieces created for this project.
Play on BACH was premiered in February 2015 in Madrid at Fundacion March and recorded and broadcasted live by Catalunya Musica worldwide.
